Aloha,

My name is Kamie Iona-Flynn, native Hawaiian and the creator behind ‘Ohana Picnics. I was 6 years old when I moved from ‘Oahu to the east coast. It wasn’t until 2011 when I made my way back to the islands; I was 29. After all the feels settled in, I put my feet in the same sand I remember running through as a kid on the same beach that was across the street from the house I lived in. I remember feeling a sense of nostalgia. It felt like HOME. The amount of aloha you feel from this place, from the people… It’s something different. Its special. From that point, I made a promise to myself that I would stay connected to my family and commit to learning more about my culture. That’s where ‘Ohana Picnics comes in. I thought, people NEED to FEEL this. How can I share this type of aloha for people to experience right here in Rhode Island.
